Note: This is one of two cancels Herbert Rommel was allowed to make in the early 1960’s from the from the postal device salvaged from OKLAHOMA and now at the Smithsonian Institution. So far as is known, this is the only time anyone has ever permitted to do this. Rommel was probably given special permission because, as a young ensign, he was on OKLAHOMA on 7 December 1941 and was the officer who called the crew to battle stations. It is on card stock, and is signed by Rommel.
