5. ARTSHIP (Privately Owned)
Purchased by the City of Oakland, California, in 1999. Custody transferred to Artship Foundation and renamed

Sold February 2004 for possible scrapping but demolition put on hold.
Sold again for scrapping in 2011

Other Information

USS CRESCENT CITY earned the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, the China Service Medal, the American Defense Service Medal (with Fleet clasp), the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal w/ 10 Battle stars, the World War II Victory Medal, the Navy Occupation Service Medal (with Asia clasp) and the Philippines Liberation Medal (2 awards) during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - A popular nickname for the city of New Orleans, Louisiana.
