Naval Covers

This section lists active links to the pages displaying covers associated with the ship. Other Information

USS ROANOKE earned the following awards during her Naval career - Joint Meritorious Unit Award Ribbon, the Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon (2 awards), the Navy Expeditionary Medal w/ 1 star, the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Southwest Asia Service Medal and the Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kuwait).

NAMESAKE - Named after both Roanoke, Virginia and the Roanoke River.

Seven ships of the US Navy have been proposed to be named ROANOKE - USS Roanoke (7-gun Schooner 1814), USS Roanoke (Screw Frigate 1857), USS Roanoke ID-1695, USS Roanoke (renamed to Lorain (PF-93) before launching), USS Roanoke (CL-114 Cancelled), USS Roanoke CL-145, and USS Roanoke AOR-7.
