Naval Covers

Other Information

USS OZARK earned the Mexican Service Medal and the World War I Victory Medal during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - Named for the State of Arkansas

NAMESAKE - Named for the City of Ozark, Arkansas

The ships sponsor was Miss Bobbie Newton Jones, daughter of Hon. Daniel W. Jones, governor of Arkansas.

Five ships of the US Navy have borne the name ARKANSAS - USS Arkansas (1863 Screw Steamer), USS Arkansas BM-7, USS Arkansas BB-33, USS Arkansas CGN-41 and USS Arkansas SSN-800.

One ship of the Confederate Navy bore the name ARKANSAS - CSS Arkansas (1862 Ironclad Ram).
