Other Information

USS HONOLULU earned the Navy Combat Action Ribbon, the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, the American Defense Service Medal w/ Fleet Clasp, the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal w/ 8 Battle stars, the World War II Victory Medal, the Philippine Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon and the Philippine Liberation Medal during her Naval career.

HONOLULU was at Pearl Harbor December 7 1941 at The Pearl Harbor Navy Yard

NAMESAKE - Named for the city of Honolulu, Hawaii.

The ships sponsor was Miss Helen Poindexter, daughter of the Governor of Hawaii, Joseph B. Poindexter.

Three US Navy ships have borne the name HONOLULU - USS Honolulu ID-1843, USS Honolulu CL-48 and USS Honolulu SSN-718.
