Other Information

USS NEVADA earned the World War I Victory Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, the European–African–Middle Eastern Campaign Medal (with 7 battle stars total) and the World War II Victory Medal during her Naval career.

USS NEVADA was at Pearl Harbor 7 December 1941

NAMESAKE - Named for the State of Nevada.

The ships sponsor was Miss Eleanor Anne Siebert (age 10), niece of Governor Tasker L. Oddie of Nevada and descendant of Secretary of the Navy Benjamin Stoddert.

Three ships of the US Navy have borne the name NEVADA - USS Nevada BM-8, USS Nevada BB-36 and USS Nevada SSBN-733.
