USS COHOES earned the Combat Action Ribbon, the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, the Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon, the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal w/ 9 Campaign stars, the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation Ribbon and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - Named for the city of Cohoes, New York.

The ships sponsor was Mrs. W. W. Johnson.

Two ships of the US Navy have borne the name COHOES - USS Cohoes (1865 light draft monitor) and USS Cohoes ANL-78.
