Other Information

USS CACHALOT earned the American Defense Service Medal w/ Fleet clasp, the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal w/ three battle stars and the World War II Victory Medal during her Naval career.

USS Cachalot was stationed at the The Pearl Harbor Navy Yard on December 7th 1941

NAMESAKE - Named for the sperm whale.

There has been two submarines of the US Navy that have borne the name CACHALOT - USS Cachalot (Name changed to USS K-2 (SS-33) before Launching) and USS Cachalot SS-160.

The ships sponsor was Katherine Duer Kempff.
