Other Information

USS COLAHAN earned the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal w/ 8 Battle Stars, the WWII Victory Medal and the Korean Service Medal w/ 5 Battle stars during her Naval career.

USS COLAHAN DD-658 was at Tokyo Bay 2 September 1945 for the Japanese surrender.

NAMESAKE - Commander Charles Ellwood Colahan, USN (25 October 1849 – 11 March 1904)
Colahan was born in Philadelphia, PA, and graduated from the US Naval Academy 4 June 1869. His long and active career included command of USS Indiana BB-1 and USS Cleveland C-19.

The ships sponsor was Mrs. P. C. Hinkamp, adopted granddaughter of Commander Colahan.
