Other Information

USS TEKESTA earned the Combat Action Ribbon, the China Service Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal w/ 4 Battle stars, the World War II Victory Medal, the Navy Occupation Service Medal (with Asia clasp), the National Defense Service Medal and the Philippines Liberation Medal during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - Alternative spelling of Tequesta, a piratical Indian tribe which inhabited the area of the present-day Florida counties of Dade and Monroe during the 16th century. The ships sponsor was Mrs. P. S. Treiber.
