Other Information

USS QUINCY earned the Combat Action Ribbon, the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal w/ 2 Battle stars, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal w/ 2 Battle stars, the World War II Victory Medal, the Navy WWII Occupation Medal w/ ASIA and EUROPE Clasps, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal w/ 1 Battle star, the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon, the United Nations Korean Service Medal and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal during her Naval career.

USS QUINCY CA-71 was at Tokyo Bay, September 2 1945 for the Japanese surrender.

NAMESAKE - Named in Honor of USS Quincy CA-39 lost at The Battle of Savo Island 9 August 1942.

The ships sponsor was Mrs. Catherine F.L. Morgan (née Adams) -- who sponsored the second Quincy -- daughter of former Secretary of the Navy Charles F. Adams III.
