Other Information

USS NATOMA BAY earned the Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon, the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal w/ 7 Battle stars, the World War II Victory Medal, the Philippine Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon and the Philippine Liberation Medal (2 stars) during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - A bay in the Graham Islands off the southwest coast of Alaska.

The ships sponsor was Lady Halifax (née Lady Dorothy Onslow), wife of Lord Halifax (earlier Edward Wood), United Kingdom's ambassador to the United States of America.
