NAMESAKE - Named for The State of Rhode Island

Three ships of the US Navy have borne the name RHODE ISLAND - USS Rhode Island (1861 Side Wheel Steamer), USS Rhode Island Battleship No. 17 and USS Rhode Island SSBN-740.
