Other Information

USS HARRY F. BAUER received a Presidential Unit Citation for the series of courageous actions off Okinawa during that bitter campaign where "the fleet had come to stay" and 4 battle stars for World War II service.

NAMESAKE - Lieutenant Commander Harry Frederick Bauer, USN (July 17 1904 – September 5 1942)
Lt. Comdr. Bauer received the Silver Star posthumously for his gallantry while transporting Marines to Guadalcanal.
Lt. Comdr. Bauer was the C.O. of USS GREGORY APD-3.
