ASHLAND earned the Navy Expeditionary Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 7 battle stars, the World War II Victory Medal, the Navy Occupation Service Medal (with Asia clasp), and the National Defense Service Medal (with one star) during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - The boyhood home of Henry Clay, which is located in Lexington, KY
