This section lists the names and designations that the ship had during its lifetime. The list is in chronological order.

    Assigned to the US Army Transportation Corps for service as a transport from 1946 to 1950

    Laid up 5 January 1950 in National Defense Reserve Fleet, Suisun Bay, California
    Sold 16 February 1978 to Union Minerals & Alloys Corp. for scrap.

Naval Covers

Postmarks

This section lists examples of the postmarks used by the ship. There should be a separate set of postmarks for each name and/or commissioning period. Within each set, the postmarks should be listed in order of their classification type. If more than one postmark has the same classification, then they should be further sorted by date of earliest known usage.

A postmark should not be included unless accompanied by a close-up image and/or an image of a cover showing that postmark. Date ranges MUST be based ONLY ON COVERS IN THE MUSEUM and are expected to change as more covers are added.

USS HOPE earned the Combat Action Ribbon (3 awards), the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal (w/ 2 Battle stars), the World War II Victory Medal, the Navy Occupation Service Medal (w/ Asia clasp), the Philippines Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon and the Philippines Liberation Medal (2 awards) during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - To have confidence; trust.

The ships sponsor was Miss Martha L. Floyd.
