Naval Covers

Other Information

USS MOBILE earned the Navy Combat Action Ribbon, the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal w/ 11 Battle stars, the World War II Victory Medal, the Navy WWII Occupation Medal w/ASIA Clasp, the Philippine Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon and the Philippine Liberation Medal (3 awards) during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - Named for the city of Mobile, Alabama.

The ships sponsor was Mrs. Harry T. Hartwell, wife of the Commissioner of Mobile, Alabama.

Six ships of the US Navy have borne the name MOBILE - USS Mobile (1854), USS Mobile (ID-4030), USS Mobile CL-63, USS Mobile LKA-115, USS Mobile Bay CG-53 and USS Mobile LCS-26.
