Ship Name and Designation History
Note: The USS/HPS NICOTINE is a creation of an unknown person or persons and was reported weekly in the "Western Stamp Collector"
newspaper by Desmond Jagyi in his "About Naval Covers" column.
Reading the old papers, there are more NICOTINE covers created but they have not been located yet.
These covers were shown in an article by Greg Ciesielski in the September 2009 edition of the "Universal Ship Cancellation Society LOG".
The search continues for more information on who created these postmarks and covers. Enjoy!
- USS NICOTINE (Fake)
- HPS NICOTINE (Fake)
Covers should be listed in chronological order. Use the postmark date or best guess.
Each entry provides a link to the image of the front of the cover. There is also
the option to have a link to the image of the back of the cover if there is anything
of significance there. Finally, there is the primary date for the cover and the
classification types for all postmarks based on the Locy System.

"Crew" list is on the back of this postcard. Also postmarked from Riddle Oregon on February 5 1935.
Riddle OR is about 50mi from the coast. Point Gallinas, Colombia, is the northernmost point of South America. Port of Spain is the capital of Trinidad, at that time the British West Indies. Point Gallinas and Port of Spain are about as far apart as New York and Chicago. "Cacoethes scribendi" is Latin for "an insatiable urge to write." {BDL}
