Note: 1st Separate Marine Battalion - These 700 Marines were assigned duty at the Navy Yard to provide for the defense of the installation. The Navy Yard was evacuted on 10 December 1941 when the Japanese attacked the facility but the Marines, Navy and civilians returned to clean-up and rearm. The Navy Yard was abandoned on 25 December 1941 after repeated attacks by the Japanese and the base personnel were dispersed to other units in the Philippines until the country fell to the Japanese in May of 1942.
