USS MORGAN COUNTY earned the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, the Navy Occupation Service Medal (with Asia clasp), the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal w/ 3 Battle stars, the United Nations Service Medal and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - Named for eleven counties in the United States of America.

The ships sponsor was Mrs. L. P. Struble.
