If more than one postmark has the same classification, then they should be further sorted by date of earliest known usage.
A postmark should not be included unless accompanied by a close-up image and/or an
image of a cover showing that postmark. Date ranges MUST be based ONLY ON COVERS IN
THE MUSEUM and are expected to change as more covers are added.

Combat Action Ribbon (retroactive) - American Campaign Medal - Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal - European-Africa-Middle East Campaign Medal w/ 1 star - WWII Victory Medal
NAMESAKE - Chief Watertender Peter Tomich USN (June 3 1893 - December 7 1941)
Tomich was on board the Training and Target Ship USS UTAH AG-16. On December 7 1941 while the ship lay in Pearl Harbor, moored off Ford Island, she was torpedoed during the Japanese raid. Tomich was on duty in a boiler room. As UTAH began to capsize, he remained below, securing the boilers and making certain that other men escaped, and so lost his life. For his "distinguished conduct and extraordinary courage" at that time, he was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor. His Medal of Honor was on display at the Navy's Senior Enlisted Academy (Tomich Hall) until it was posthumously awarded to members of his family on May 18 2006, aboard the USS ENTERPRISE CVN-65 in the Adriatic Sea, off the coast of Croatia
