Postmarks

Within each set, the postmarks should be listed in order of their classification type. If more than one postmark has the same classification, then they should be further sorted by date of earliest known usage.
A postmark should not be included unless accompanied by a close-up image and/or an
image of a cover showing that postmark. Date ranges MUST be based ONLY ON COVERS IN
THE MUSEUM and are expected to change as more covers are added.

SANDERS earned the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal (w/4 Battle stars) and the WWII Victory Medal during her Naval career.
NAMESAKE - Ensign Eugene Thomas Sanders, USN (March 15 1889 - December 7 1941)
Sanders enlisted in the Army on June 16 1917, he was discharged on February 13 1919. On September 18 1919, he enlisted in the Navy and subsequently served on USS BRANT AM-24 December 4 1932 to June 1 1934; on USS FINCH AM-9 August 30 1934 to January 28 1936; at the naval station at Olongapo, Luzon, Philippine Islands, January 29 1936 to April 3 1937; and on USS CANOPUS AS-9 April 6 1937 to March 10 1938.
On May 7 1940, Chief Boatswain Sanders reported to USS ARIZONA BB-39. Appointed Ensign on November 3 1941, he died during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor while serving on ARIZONA December 7 1941
Two ships of the U.S. Navy have been named SANDERS - USS Sanders DE 40 and USS SANDERS DE 273 (later HMS Grindall K.477).
