Postmarks
This section lists examples of the postmarks used by the ship. There should be a separate set of postmarks for each incarnation of the ship (ie, for each entry in the "Ship Name and Designation History" section). Within each set, the postmarks should be listed in order of their classification type. If more than one postmark has the same classification, then they should be further sorted by date of earliest known usage.
A postmark should not be included unless accompanied by a close-up image and/or an
image of a cover showing that postmark. Date ranges MUST be based ONLY ON COVERS IN
THE MUSEUM and are expected to change as more covers are added.

NAMESAKE - Named in Honor of Ensign Lee Fox Jr. USNR (January 11 1920 - December 7 1941)
Fox was appointed an Aviation Cadet in the Naval Reserve January 9 1941, and won his pilot’s wings at Pensacola and was commissioned an ensign August 5 1941. After brief service on the west coast, he reported for duty in Hawaii on September 17 1941 and served until killed in the attack on Pearl Harbor December 7 1941 while serving in Patrol Squadron 12 at KANEOHE BAY NAS. Ensign Fox was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart
